Don't be put off if you don't have an eye-wateringly expensive dSLR, entries can be from any type of camera, whether it's a professional standard one, a disposable point and shoot or a camera phone. Please note that entries must be taken after the theme has been announced.
How it works
Here's a basic version of how the POTM competition works. At the beginning of each month a theme will be announced. Each entrant can submit up to two photographs per month, and voting begins on the 26th of each month at 1AM BST (midnight GMT) and finishes on the 29th at 1AM BST. After this point all points for each entry are totalled up and the winner will be announced. Entrants can vote on up to five entries, and the emphasis is on giving each photo a fair analysis rather than picking your favourite.
